Weird Colorado

I was a little disappointed in the weird stuff found in my state. I did learn some things about the 38th State though.
I'm taking this hefty hardcover from imawinn2's shrinking bookbox. I visited Colorado a number of times way back when I lived in Wyoming, and even have some ancestors buried in Denver; will be interested to see what kinds of "weird" the authors found. [I've read a couple of other "Weird" travel guides, including Weird New England, so I have some idea what to expect from this one.]
Later: Some entertaining tidbits here, from the Manitou Springs fruitcake-toss to dinosaur-tracks to the guy who set off the "Pikes Peak or Bust" stampede - which turned out to be a hoax, however unintentional on his part, as he wrote a guidebook based on little more than wishful thinking. There are spots visited by Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch, and others visited by Oscar Wilde (his appearances before the rough-and-ready audiences must have been awesome). Nikola Tesla was in Colorado, to set up a laboratory on a hilltop. There are nods to comic-book character Steve Canyon and real-life rattlesnake-hunter Kate McHale Slaughterback. And, of course, lots of marvelous scenic places... all of which made me ache for the chance to go traveling, all the more tempting as it's not in the cards during the whole COVID-19 situation. But it was very enjoyable doing some travel-by-proxy!

I'm adding this one to the Hodgepodge Diminishing bookbox, which will be on its way again soon. Enjoy!

Colorado is my favorite place to visit. Taking from the Hodgepodge Diminishing Bookbox #1.
