Not the best rock book read - not the worst ( probably why it took so long to read) .....some hidden gems about songs and personalities.....
A nine out of ten for me. I think this book was really well written and very thorough about the life and music of Nick Lowe. (To be honest, I skipped over chunks of the ancestral details at the end of the book.) I didn't realise how awful Nick's life was at one point. He was leading a depressed-alcoholic-drugged-out life, altho' there was some great music and production work. The "new" Nick is a happy, healthy family guy - still writing great songs - and he just gets better and better. Like his contemporary (the even lesser-known Graham Parker), Nick Lowe will never join the ranks of such household names as Elton John, Ray Davies or David Bowie, but he's one of England's great songwriters, and a man who still loves to get out there and entertain you. Good on ya, Nick!
