Journal Entry 1 by wingghirwing from Honolulu, Hawaii USA on Sunday, March 8, 2020
FOL Manoa purchase. The Cemetery of Forgotten Books series is a convoluted world with way too many characters. This one has a central plot of Alicia Gris, a young woman recruited as a child to serve in a secret police agency in Barcelona, who is loaned out to the actual police to help find the Minister of Culture when he goes missing. Generations of political corruption and secret romances crowd the plot. I gave up trying to follow who did what to whom and just let the world envelope me, like a Cirque du Soleil performance. And like a Cirque performance where you ask why the kangaroo-looking man keeps following the uptight ballerina and the answer is, because of a giant turtle!, the answer to these books is, this is Spain!
