YA book about a bullied boy with one friend, and now maybe another. Fanboy is whip smart, yet gets many things wrong. Kyra, Goth Girl is possibly the most encouraging person he has ever met. She thinks the graphic novel he's been working on is brilliant and pushes Don to work on it even harder and to show it to his favourite graphic artist Bendis. Kyra's friendship and encouragement comes with a price though, she's not easy to get along with, and she has many, many secrets. For a smart kid, Fanboy misses out on a lot of clues thrown his way, or maybe he's just so desperate for a friend, he can't see, what's straight in front of him.
I thought this was a good story, and I liked that Don got things wrong and was just as pig-headed as the enemies on his list. I also like that it had a loose ending. Fanboy learned things about other people and himself, not everything is happy and perfect, there were many unknown factors at the end of the story, but Don seemed better equipped to deal with it.
