Storm Front was an enjoyable read if you don't take it too seriously and if you can ignore some major flaws.
One thing that got in my nerves was the way the women were depicted and that some scenes seemed to have been added in the book to fullfill some kind of male fantasy.
An other thing was that other scenes and developments seemed to belong on a more goofy and farse-ose kind of humor than the rest of the narration, -a narration that was kind of light-hearted and "naive" and a fun yarn in a kind of naive and superficial, but still entertaining setting. Some dialogues were supposed to be witty but felt a bit off too.
And of course the detective part and the way it unfolds doesn't stand to very close scrutiny either.
All that said, I enjoyed this book. It was a quick and pleasant read if seen as light entertainment. The combination of murder mystery and fantasy was interesting, there is a decent pace, small chapters, some nice secondary characters, a decent balance among the main character's musings and/or investigations and the action scenes, hints for various threads to be explored on future books...
All in all, Storm Front isn't flawless but it's a very good choice to pass the time and/or to take a break from more serious readings. I enjoyed it.
