The English Wife

"He left her a cottage in England...and a photograph with the words 'I'm sorry' written on it...
Marjorie Maitland was used to a certain routine--she'd built her life around the safety of predictability. Then the unexpected happened--her husband died. But grief was not the only emotion that overwhelmed her. The mystery her husband left behind puzzled her--a deed to a cottage in England. Where had that come from? And who was the woman in the photograph? Margie knew trouble when it knocked on her door.
The old Margie, safe in her suburban home, would have avoided this potentially humiliating situation. But things were changing. The new Margie had to unravel this tangled web and get to the truth. And that meant a trip to England to find out if her entire life had been a lie...or to discover the best parts of the rest of her life." (summary taken from the back of the book)
I enjoyed it. The characters were a little bit stupid, but it wasn't horrible. I like the premise of this Harlequin series where it's less about direct romance, more of the woman finding herself (with a romance on the side).
This copy was purchased at Goodwill. Once read, it will be sent to the winner of the Wonderful Family Sweepstakes, Round 7.

"What if you found out there was another woman?"
I love its cover picture, and I am sure I will enjoy reading it. :)

I have tagged Icila with it; I will read it first. :)
Currently reading it... I love its cover! :)
Against all odds, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Yes, it's a romance, but very well written, and not traditional in any sense... the main characters, Dan and Margie, are middle-aged and flawed, but close-to-life.
I enjoyed the flavour of English country life, eating at pubs, shopping at the main street... this really brings back memories of my years there.
Maybe it was what I needed at this time; I sincerely enjoyed reading it, even if no mysteries (well, only a tiny one) or supernatural events...
It will soon be on its way to Icila; thanks for sharing, RNAi, it has lived up to its beautiful cover... :)

There is safety in numbers, they had a nice journey. Thank you !
Very readable and plausible, Wouldn't had classified it as romance. I was surprised to discover it's a Harlequin book after reading.
