Ask Again, Yes

How much can a family forgive?
A profoundly moving novel about two neighboring families in a suburban town, the bond between their children, a tragedy that reverberates over four decades, the daily intimacies of marriage, and the power of forgiveness.
Francis Gleeson and Brian Stanhope, two rookie cops in the NYPD, live next door to each other outside the city. What happens behind closed doors in both houses—the loneliness of Francis’s wife, Lena, and the instability of Brian’s wife, Anne—sets the stage for the explosive events to come.
Ask Again, Yes is a deeply affecting exploration of the lifelong friendship and love that blossoms between Francis and Lena’s daughter, Kate, and Brian and Anne’s son, Peter. Luminous, heartbreaking, and redemptive, Ask Again, Yes reveals the way childhood memories change when viewed from the distance of adulthood—villains lose their menace and those who appeared innocent seem less so. Kate and Peter’s love story, while tested by echoes from the past, is marked by tenderness, generosity, and grace.

A great read. I loved the characters and the dynamics. I will look for more books by the author. The only gripe I have is that the font is very small and it is unforgiving for my aging eyes.
Reserved as a wishlist tag for Bookworm-lady.

This long overdue wishlist tag is finally ready to travel. Sadly, it is taking its time on a slow boat. Hope it won't take too long. Enjoy!
Thank you soo much for tagging me with this novel, and sending it to me.
I enjoyed "Fever" by the same author, and I am looking forward to reading this one.

Reserved for Chania, for the EU WishList Tag Game.
I started reading it some days ago, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. :)
I really, really enjoyed reading this quite long novel... just as much as I enjoyed "Fever" by Ms Keane.
It is a family saga, starting with the friendship between two policemen, their weddings, and until current days with the marriage of their children Peter and Kate. Many things happen along the way, and the characters are very well depicted and life-like. And many subjects are explored, including mental health and alcoholism.
I agree with mcsar: the small font size is not the best for tired eyes... :)
A very enjoyable read; thank you for sharing this WishList book with me, which will soon continue its travels towards new readers.

Very good! I felt like I became very close to each of the characters, with their faults and sorrows and happy moments!
