No one likes to be alone during the holidays. For New York's most posh dating service, Personally Yours, it is the season to bring lonely hearts together. But Lieutenant Eve Dallas, on the trail of a ritualistic serial killer who likes to dress up as Santa Claus, has made a disturbing discovery: all of the victims have been traced to Personally Yours. As the murders continue, Eve enters into an elite world of people searching for their one true love. A world where the power of love leads men and women into the ultimate act of betrayal...

This is the first book in the Eve Dallas series I've read, and I do think I missed out on a couple of thing, but still I believe you can read this as a stand-alone novel.

I liked and disliked Eve at times. Just like real life I guess. This time it is not a brooding male character, but a cranky female detective who fights for justice. She's got serious issues, which in part explains her being bitchy quite a bit. Sometimes the bitchiness even made me laugh. She's got a really yummy guy. Roarke, Irish, self-made wealthy man with a somewhat shady past, who's on the good side for sure. He's hot. Really hot. He's loyal to Eve and puts up with all her antics without being a wuss. I liked the pair of them together. The steamy scenes for which Nora Roberts is known for, are plentiful and enjoyable.

I also liked the other characters in the book, sweet Peabody, McNabb, Feeney, Dr. Mira and even Summerset. They're not just flat extra characters. Nora Roberts writes them like they truly matter, and they do.

All in all, I liked this book. It was a quick, entertaining read.
