Derek Black was part of a "blended" family. His father, Don Black, started Stormfront, a white nationalist website and was Grand Wizard of the Knights of the KKK. Derek's godfather (and father of his half-sisters) is David Duke, who the Anti-Defamation League has described as "perhaps America’s most well-known racist and anti-Semite". Derek grew up going to white nationalist conferences, helping his dad with the Stormfront website. Derek chose to go to New College Florida and this is the story of his transformation by getting to know some other students--Jews, an immigrant.
Saslo writes so well that I had a hard time taking time away from this book even though I knew the outcome.
How did this transformation happen? And is Derek unique? Can others also eventually come to the same understandings?
