Taken from the Wrap It Up bookbox. I read this a couple years ago and liked it, but I think I might give it a re-read and see if I still get the same impression.
I enjoyed this book on a second go around, but one thing that stood out to me this time is that I personally have heard very little from folks with autism about how they feel about Christopher's portrayal. Given that this was such a popular book a few years ago, that seems like an odd oversight. For me, a lot of it lines up reasonably with my own non-neurotypical experiences, but I don't share his condition.
I think Haddon did an excellent job figuring out a writing style that clearly communicates Christopher's intelligence and curiosity, while also depicting that fact that his experience of the world and social interactions are different than the people around him.

Left on a rock near the parking lot, at the entrance to the grass trails.
