A man goes to live self sufficiently in the woods for 2 years, does an alright job in that it doesn't kill him, then proceeds to write his experiences down in a book and berate all those who haven't transcended to his level of existence and done similar.
Scores some points for some of the beautiful descriptions of nature, and for the message of civil disobedience. However it was a very heavy going book for only 200 pages and it didn't all ring quite true.
