Goodreads.com says:
Mercy Thompson has found her voice in the werewolf pack. But when Mercy’s bond with the pack—and her mate—is broken, she’ll learn what it truly means to be alone...

Attacked and abducted in her home territory, Mercy finds herself in the clutches of the most powerful vampire in the world, taken as a weapon to use against alpha werewolf Adam and the ruler of the Tri-Cities vampires. In coyote form, Mercy escapes—only to find herself without money, without clothing, and alone in the heart of Europe...

Unable to contact Adam and the rest of the pack, Mercy has allies to find and enemies to fight, and she needs to figure out which is which. Ancient powers stir, and Mercy must be her agile best to avoid causing a war between vampires and werewolves, and between werewolves and werewolves. And in the heart of the ancient city of Prague, old ghosts rise...

All in all, I loved it biiiiiiiiiig times. It’s Mercy, so what’s not to love?
But: The whole reason behind it, the motivation for the kidnapping in the first place, was unsatisfying. It seems like the author just needed any reason to send Mercy on another adventure, which is actually totally fine by me, but usually Patricia Briggs does better.
I also didn’t like what the plot did with Bonarata. Sometimes the bad guy could profit from a fair bit of ambiguity, but it doesn’t fit him. It also puzzled me a bit that directly after claiming the Tri-Cities their territory at the end of Fire Touched, the author makes the main characters leave said territory and ignore it an entire book long. Together with the different storytelling (separated POV of the separated couple in a non-time-consistent manner plus a direct address to the readers at the beginning of each chapter), it seems like the author willingly wanted to do something entirely different. And why not, after 10 books of a series? But since I wasn’t bored with the previous 10 and probably won’t be bored with the next 10, I just shrug this off and think “well, yeah, why not?”
I adore Patricia Briggs’ ideas in general, and here it was the Golem that amazed me.

if Mercy went from Milan to Prague, why not head for Switzerland now?
