This ex-library hardcover was among the books donated to the local library for distribution to the Little Free Libraries. It looks like a '40s-era British mystery, but it turns out it was written in the US in the 1980s - with the author-bio noting that the author wrote it "under the influence of an overdose of Agatha Christie mysteries" {wry grin}. It didn't grab me, so I'll pass it along.
