I got this softcover at Barnes and Noble. It's a choose-your-own-path book, in graphic-novel format - and with a fantasy-quest storyline, a la D&D. Looks like fun!
Later: I really enjoyed this! It has lots of storylines, a nice smooth format, and some clever puzzles to challenge the reader. It uses the graphic-novel format well, placing the panel-numbers for each choice in the artwork itself - sometimes in "stealth" mode, where the numbers are barely visible, so do look carefully! Encounters tend to have lots of options, with diplomacy being rewarded sometimes and a quick attack in others. There are puzzles to solve, some of them quite tricky - but if you get frustrated you can always just pretend you got the right answer and turn to the next panel {wry grin}. I didn't bother keeping track of my stats, items, gold, etc., though I did count up the "bracelets of bravery" that I found, as that's how one gets to pass the test. [Note: the bracelets can be acquired from other characters through negotiation or reward, but can also be found just wandering around, so - again - look closely at the artwork, and see if you can spot the distinctive bands hidden somewhere in the panel.]
There's a lot of humor, and some drama - you can definitely die on some routes, and one particularly nasty one is next to impossible to escape once you're in it - and the puzzles are tricky enough to make me feel clever for solving them but not so complicated as to be frustrating (mostly). There are more books in the series, and I expect I'll hunt them up!
