I got this hardcover from Better World Books. (It's inscribed "Brian, to read for a 1985 Cape summer; your father in law".) I'd read an excerpt some time back and really enjoyed it, so I wanted to read the whole book. It features scenes dramatic, awesome, and sometimes hilarious, as the author and poet James Fenton and a three-man native crew make their way by river into the interior of Borneo, facing many challenges along the way, from the climate to the not-always-fond-of-strangers tribes. The book includes wonderful descriptions of the land, the wildlife, and the customs of the different peoples, and has the flavor of a tale well told - and is often wildly funny.
