I got this softcover at Toadstool Books in its new Nashua location, for another release copy. The stories deal with different aspects and interpretations of Halloween, from traditional to distant-future. Among my favorites:

"Dirtmouth" by Stephen Graham Jones, a disturbing lost-family tale.

"A Small Taste of the Old Country" by Jonathan Maberry contrasts Halloween with an unusual Austrian festival.

"Witch Hazel" by Jeffrey Ford suggests some grisly reasons behind an All Souls Day custom in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey.

Brian Evenson's "Sisters" presents a Halloween celebration by a family with... unusual - and very dark - tastes.

"A Kingdom of Sugar Skulls and Marigolds" by Eric J. Guignard deals with Day of the Dead customs - and the effects of making a tiny little typo when inscribing a name on a sugar skull...

And more!
