I picked up this softcover manga at Barnes and Noble today. It's about high school kids coping with a world in which alien spacecraft hover overhead...

Later: Rather weird setup, with a mix of sometimes-puerile, sometimes-deep banter among the high school kids who make up the main cast, with the backdrop of the alien invasion that began three years ago and which has become rather static: small ships leave the huge mother ship now and then, and are fought by the military, but the casualty level has been pretty low since the initial battles. Life goes on, with concerns both economic and military - indeed, a new "green" weapon features at the end of this volume, intended to be able to demolish the small alien ships without leaving any wreckage or any harmful radiation. The two main characters, very close friends, are dealing with teenage hormones, a desire for drama and romance (even if it involves a one-sided flirtation with a teacher), and tentative plans for a future that they aren't sure will ever come... All this sets the stage for a change in the behavior of the aliens, and as this volume closes it appears that there may be some very unexpected complications indeed, involving people who'd disappeared when the alien ship first arrived but who may not be dead after all.
