Journal Entry 3 by Shahrun at -- Controlled Release, -- By post or by hand/ in person -- United Kingdom on Tuesday, January 14, 2020
Picked this up at today’s London evening meet up. Plan to use it to either trade or put in my Dagenham Little Free Library.
I have actually already read it. Here’s what I thought of it:
I wanted to read this book as it appears on a few lists that I am trying to read my way through (to diversify what I read).
Having also read One Hundred Years of Solitude for the same reason, left me beginning this book with dread! I didn't get One Hundred Years of Solitude and found it rather confusing and hard to follow.
I was really rather relieved to discover that was (generally) not the case with this book. I found it an interesting journey looking at peoples relationships. I think there are many accurate observations of both are contained amongst the pages of this book.
Having said all that tho, it is a pretty intense read. It took me far longer that a book of it's size normally would! I feel rather relieved to have finished it.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
This is a special festive themed release in Dagenham Little Free Library to celebrate our first Valentine’s Day open in 2020.
If you have picked up a book from here, You may have noticed there is a little hand written note/sticker inside with a unique number and direction to the BookCrossing website. In a nutshell, BookCrossing allows you the reader to become a part of the Books story. You can track the recorded movements of the book and add an opinion on the story. It’s free and you can do it anonymously. But if you join, you will get notified when the next reader journals it. You wouldn’t believe how far some books go!

No takers yet, so I’ve reshuffled the Library and taken this one out for now. Plan to try again for a World Book Night event I want to try.
It’s actually World Book Night today! And I’m posting this off to a fellow BookCrosser, as my side of a swap. Hope you enjoy this more than I did.
Arrived safely. Many thanks for sharing this I look forward to reading it.
The main theme of this novel is love-sickness. Garcia Marquez portrays it as a literal illness, comparable to cholera and Florentino suffers from it physically just as he might any malady. I had very low expectations before starting this novel and almost didn't start it at all but that really would have been a shame. This is a complex story which at times is a little overblown but IMHO Marquez successfully delivers a touching and at times amusing story that portrays not only the everlasting strength of 'first' love but also shines a light on the sometimes touchy topic of love in the older years particularly after a bereavement, as such this book deserves to be on the 1001 list despite finding the paedophilia element towards the end uncomfortable reading and unnecessary .
Going across the pond as a BookMooch. Enjoy!
Over a million people around the world give their books a unique BookCrossing IDentity number (BCID) before sending them out to find new readers. Since the start of the scheme in April 2001 more than ten million such books have been put into circulation. This is one of them!
Our hope is that we can track the progress of our books once they've left our hands - and that's possible if finders like you visit the website, key in the BCID and leave a comment, however long or short. It's fun, it doesn't have to cost anything, although the site always appreciates donations towards running costs, and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You don't have to join but if you do you'll be able to number and track your own books!
