Life is sweet for Nikki Sands. She's toasting her new job at the Malveaux Estate in Napa Valley and balancing a love triangle with a neighbouring winemaker and her boss, vineyard owner Derek Malveaux - the catch of the county. And tonight, Nikki will be on the arm of Napa's golden boy at a Sonoma mansion for the wedding of the decade...
Nikki's friend Isabel agreed to cater the wedding- before she learned that the groom was her cheating lover. After the ceremony, Isabel asks Nikki to bring the obnoxious bride another glass of wine. But Nikki finds the new wife sprawled on the floor - murdered. Since the dearly departed made enemies easily, there's a bushel of suspect - many of the close to Nikki. Now, it's up to her to get to the bottom of what may have been a killer bottle of wine.

Excellent! Well drawn characters that ably carried the storyline. I have to note that the plotting was pretty competent as any "Really!" doubting, involuntary exclamations were pretty few.
Special Advent Project Book - wrapped and numbered the eleventh book of my 2019 Advent project.
I passed this over to the recipients with other such books and am now making a late (apologies) controlled release journal entry. MURDER BY THE GLASS is especially earmarked for Flutterbies9. These books have been a delightful surprise for the recipients I think, odd numbers to BookCrosser Flutterbies9 and even numbers directed at reader T.

Woops, a very belated journal entry to say received in the advent calendar of books some three months ago ..... . Have just started this one as needed something easy on the brain to read along with the two 'serious' books I am in process of reading in stages.
Well, started and finished as well within 36 hours - I did have to sleep you know! Thanks rainbow3, this was a welcome diversion book.
An enjoyable read which seemed very well thought out both in plotline and character development. Although a 'cosy crime' type book, this is a series which I could easily see myself following if it was available here.
My only though was whether it was better to have the recipes and wine pairings at the end of the relevant chapter where they appeared or all together at the end of the story. On the whole I thought it worked well in this instance to have them at the end of the chapter, although I was a little disconcerted at the additional 'thoughts' within these sections which related to the storyline or character development.
I may have a plan for this but we shall see, meantime available.
