Oddly, my daughters bought me this. I've heard some not great stuff about Mr Peterson, but I guess I should make my own judgement.

Well, I've made up my own mind now. There is some OK stuff in here, there is some sensible advice. In fact, the rules, taken in isolation, aren't actually that bad at all. The problem arises with the guff that Peterson spouts in between them. And I guess that's why he's dangerous. He seems perfectly reasonable on the surface, but dig a little deeper and he holds all sorts of problematic opinions, especially around gender. I found parts of this laughable. It's supposed to be intellectual, but much of it is an uncritical reading of the bible. Anything good in there is lost in an avalanche of simplistic thinking. Peterson is the kind of person who believes everything he is certain about is just 'common sense' and talks a great deal about listening to those who disagree with you while at the same time very swiftly dismissing anything that interferes with his world view. Nah, not for me.
