A delightful book of heartwarming short stories, the perfect Christmas read. Yes, you know the endings will be happy but there are still a few surprises when you take off the wrapping paper (and one shocking act of violence that really brings home how times have changed for the better). Stella Gibbons has the talent to draw the reader into her characters' lives even in a few brief pages.

I received it by buying it as a used book on Amazon. But I'll send it out into the wild myself.
Yes, it's an enjoyable read; some stories better than others. The title story was disappointing but I suppose you wouldn't expect it to be as good as Stella Gibbons original novel about Cold Comfort Farm, which was brilliant!
