This is a perfect ghost story with the hauntings of victims and souls lost on Earth while evil deeds are punished. I loved the story because there are no real good or bad guys, nor is there any gore, horror or facile ploy to instill fear and dread. There are just people making poor decisions out of laziness, fear, greed and opportunity. It comes to a neat circular finish - all is laid out but a solemnity polishes the whole piece together. The glass hotel, to my mind, might have held a bigger role - I loved it so! - but the whole novel is spell binding from start to finish.
