Another heartbreaking WWII novel, this one made all the more so by being based on a true story. Lake and Gita meet and fall in love in Auschwitz, surrounded by the horrors of a Nazi death camp. Overall, a quick but powerful read.

It's hard to believe that people could fall in love in places like Auschwitz, but it happened for Lale and Gita Sokolov. This book is heartbreaking and hopeful and gives you another aspect of what surviving a concentration camp was like during WWII.
I read this book for PopSugar's 2020 reading challenge prompt: A book by an author with flora or fauna in their name.
