No idea what this is or where it came from. It looks new, but I don't remember either receiving it as a gift, or buying it myself.

I'd forgotten I read this. It was actually really good. It just runs through the events of a mans life. I think it's set in the Austrian Alps and the life in question runs through the two world wars and beyond. It's mercifully short and tells the story quite beautifully. It's about the extraordinary things that happen to ordinary people. Different.
