This book is a series of short stories and poems from the Canadian Maritimes and Newfoundland. They are by various authors. I found some not to be very interesting, but for the most part I enjoyed reading them. One common thread throughout most of these stories is that the families were poor in terms of income, but quite rich in creativity and practicality. People took delight in the simple things in life, creating their Christmas gifts, eating foods which were only enjoyed at Christmas. and generally having fun.
