In this book the lawyer Matthew Shardlake gets involved in dangerous political and religious events while working again for the Catherine Parr who is now the 6th Queen of Henry VIII. I like the way the story has other elements with his relationships with two of his clerks - Barak who has been with him before and the young Nicholas. It is interesting to read about what was a dangerous time at the end of Henry’s reign when it was not clear whether the Catholic or Protestant factions would gain the most power through Henry.

Journal Entry 5 by sandyundead at Bydgoszcz, Kujawsko-Pomorskie Poland on Saturday, May 1, 2021
This was a fascinating evocation of the Tudor court at the end of Henry VIII's reign, capturing the uncertainty over religion within an interesting story with lots of twists and turns.
