Mike Lantry is a private detective in New York (in the 1940's?). He's a one man show with long term plans to build his business into a world wide detective agency but, for now, he's taking it one case at a time, earning barely enough to pay the bills. So when the very rich Colonel Geeson hires Mike to find his missing, young and very beautiful wife, Mike is on the case. But as the investigation leads deeper and deeper into the unsavoury underworld of New York, the lies and coverups pile up. Danger lurks in every shadowed doorway and in every stranger's glance. Can Mike stay alive long enough to solve the case of the missing Mrs. Geeson? And will he get a kiss from Constance, that pretty reporter for the Tribune?
