Haroun and the Sea of Stories
4 journalers for this copy...
I enjoyed this whimsical tale about the importance of storytelling, but it didn't grab me in the same way that some of Rushdie's other works (notably Midnight's Children) did. It was almost too clever in a way - so obvious in its overall intentions as a novel that the fantasy world it created just didn't seem particularly absorbing.

Caught at the Old Gang meet up. Thank you!
Like LittleSuz, I found that this novel was trying to be too clever in places which ended up making it a bit confusing. I did enjoy some of the puns around names, and I did like the concept of the storytellers tales being true.
And off it goes to the winner of the first name sweeps. Happy reading!
Thank you, the book is here! Quite intriguing... :)
Sent today to the winner of the Annual Clearance Sweepstakes.
