In the Garden of Beasts
3 journalers for this copy...
This is not an ordinary book: it's a BookCrossing book! BookCrossing books are world travelers - they like to have adventures and make new friends...and every once in a while they even write home to say what they've been doing.

Not sure where this came from...but I already have another copy waiting to be read, so this one is free to travel.

I'd forgotten about the bookband I added - but I did want to be sure you knew that one was specifically for you. :)

I'm so glad you've found this book! Won't you make a journal entry so the previous readers know that it's safe with you?
How and where did you find the book? What did you think of it? What are you going to do with it next?
This is now your book, for you to do with as you please: keep it as long as you wish, pass it to a friend, or maybe even leave it where someone else can find it!
If you've ever wondered where your books go after they leave your hands, join BookCrossing and you may find out: you'll be able to follow your books as new readers make journal entries - sometimes from surprisingly far-flung locations.

I've read a few of Larson's books, and as always, he is apt at making history as compelling as fiction.
I was in Berlin for a few days after BC Con in Mainz, and reading this book brought back memories. Berlin is a beautiful city and many of the buildings are so gigantic they take up a whole block!
This book touches me on the personal level in another manner. In the past year China has turned Hong Kong into a police state, stripping away people's freedom and human rights. When I read about how U.S. and other countries turned a blind eye to what Germany was doing to the Jews, calling it an internal issue, I wonder, when will human learn so history won't repeat itself?
While for the most of the book, Ambassador Dodd was not portrayed in a very favorable light, the conclusion shows him to be a character that we definitely need more of today.
Thanks again for sending this wishlist book!
