See's Famous Old Time Candies
4 journalers for this copy...
This is not an ordinary book: it's a BookCrossing book! BookCrossing books are world travelers - they like to have adventures and make new friends...and every once in a while they even write home to say what they've been doing.

Small hardcover with dust jacket from the CUC Thrift Shop; larger photo here.
Subtitled: A Sweet Story
I grew up with See's Candy: Dad bought Mom a box for every special occasion and she always shared. So I couldn't resist picking up this book (which looks just like a See's box...and don't miss the end papers!) when I ran across it.
I found it quite an interesting read - particularly the company's responses to supply shortages during the Great Depression and WWII. And of course I had to eventually get over to the mall and pick up some See's. ;)

Yum yum yum... chocolates!!
Being on the east coast, we don't have See's over here, although I did have them growing up in Hong Kong.
Hopefully reading this book won't make me gain weight. I already feel the urge for some chocolate already...

Yes reading this book has made me reach for some chocolate a few times. Also I found out that in 2020 See's actually temporarily closed down due to COVid, the second in its almost century long history.
Quite interesting to read about the company's history, and pleasantly surprised that Hong Kong got mentioned as the first international outpost for See's.
Okay, I better finish this entry now before I get a craving for chocolate again, lol.

Chosen from the Cookbook/Food Bookbox. I gained two pounds picking up the book.
Mom read this book first. She told me about stopping to tour See's Candies on her honeymoon.
