From the back cover: "Fourteen-year-old Dita is one of the many imprisoned by the Nazis at Auschwitz-Birkenau. But Dita becomes the secret librarian of the camp, tasked with taking charge of the small collection of precious books the prisoners have managed to smuggle past the guards.
But books are extremely dangerous. They make people think. And nowhere are they more dangerous than in Block 31 of Auschwitz, where the slightest transgression can result in execution, no matter how young the transgressor..."

This book was definitely not a happy read. Based on the true story of Dita Kraus, this book once again opened the eyes to really see what it was like in these concentration camps and Auschwitz wasn´t even the worst of them. This book is an amazing story of the strenght of this young girl and many others who survived these camps but it´s also a memorial to all those who didn´t. You can nothing but wonder how it was even possible that some survived all those horrors and the awful living conditions. But despite of all these horrible things described in this book, the story was captivating and really touching.
