Loved this series on tv a few years ago and a friend bought me this book to add to the enjoyment of rural English village life. The book isn't so much a story but a collection of observations that the author made while growing up in a time when village life started to move into the 19th century and was forced in many ways to adapt but equally keep many of their loved and true hamlet cultural practices.
I think it made it easier to read and picture some of these meanderings because I had already seen what the characters looked like and how they were but not all of them were in the television series. Certainly quaint times of by-gone years and it was nice to re-visit this more innocent time.
