Picked this up at a dollar store years ago for my husband, who has since decided he's never going to get around to reading it. So away it goes.

I happened to notice this book on a shelf at Potbelly's sandwich shop in Alexandria VA this afternoon. I'm a huge Def Leppard fan and was actually listening to them on the drive in to work this morning. Looking forward to it. Looks like a quick read. Book still looks brand new.
I was out for my daily book release walk around the neighborhood near my office and I saw this book sitting on a table outside Dunkin' Donuts. Initially, I didn't realize that it was already registered, so I picked it up to remedy that, but quickly discovered that it was, in fact, registered. But now that I've looked through the photos in the book and read the jacket blurb, I think I might just have to read it before releasing it back into the wild.
Def Leppard's Pyromania album was an integral part of my musical interests back during my high school years. Much of what I listened to up until this album was released was influenced by those around me. I loved Van Halen, but I was introduced to their music by a close friend. But with Pyromania, I discovered Def Leppard right along side my friends, and it remains an important album in my musical memory. But I hadn't listened to it in years before picking up this book, so naturally, I had to go back and listen to it while I read this book.
This book is the author's recollections of his life, from childhood, but largely focusing on his musical interest, both with Def Leppard and otherwise. It provides some interesting glimpses into the band and its members, as well as interesting stories about recording their albums and especially their tours. It also explores the author's other collaborations, which allowed him to explore other musical interests beyond the sound of Def Leppard.
All of that is interesting, but as an almost total outsider to the world of musicians, I found the number of names thrown about to be a little overwhelming. Many of them were familiar, but many more were not, and it was easy to get a little lost trying to keep them all straight. But I manage to keep most of the principle players sorted, and overall, I enjoyed this look behind the curtain of one of my favorite bands.
