2006, Picador pocketbook 2007. 307 p.
Pulitzer prize for fiction 2007

Second verse same as the first. In fact, this was the third time I read the book. Meanwhile, I have been told that it was not nuclear war but supereruption of the Yellowstone Caldera. But that is not very relevant to the matter. The point is how the father protects his son and how the son learns by asking the right questions.

One of my most memorable reading experiences ever. Looking for a new reader...

Once again thank you ruzena. Your journal entry makes me a little nervous, I truly hope that I will appreciate this book as much as it apparently deserves.

At the same time horrifying and beautiful story. Nameless man and his son walking through burned country. Sometimes good things happen, sometimes bad, but they just keep walking. This book will probably haunt me for a long time.

Thank you ruzena for sharing.

This sounds exciting! I didn't know, what to expect, when I was given this, as I haven't seen the movie. Now I'm having the same concern as Piiku had, namely, whether or not I can appreciate this book as much as it deserves. Thank you for this one!

I should perhaps read the book in Finnish, too, as my English isn't good enough to get all the nuances of the language, the beauty of which is so much praised. On the other hand, I found even the story itself quite basic, a similar set is known from plenty dystopias (of course, this was given out 15 years ago and perhaps it was different in the English-speaking world), the first author name, that pops in the mind, is Seidi Saikkonen from the newer generation. I liked to read the book, though, it was nice and despite the constant fear and worry in the atmosphere, somehow calming. I just don't understand the big hype around it.

Thank you a lot for this book! Arrived today. I wait for reading this but I also fear for it.

After the first day reading this I got nightmares. During the first half of the book I was optimistic, though. After the midpoint or so I kind of lost my hope. A good novel makes you reflect and study your inner self. This book is that.
There are many things to discuss but better not spoil the reading experience for the next reader. I hope to find one.
