Over five years in the writing, The Dovekeepers is Alice Hoffman's most ambitious and mesmerizing novel, a tour de force of imagination and research, set in ancient Israel. In 70 C.E., nine hundred Jews held out for months against armies of Romans on Masada, a mountain in the Judean desert.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
I found this a challenging read, I couldn't get which woman was which in my head ( I am very tired at the moment) and I always struggle with supernatural/ spiritual stories.
But I do enjoy faction (fiction based on fact) and learnt about a place and time that I previously knew very little about.
