CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Jance never disappoints! I hope you enjoy this!
Arrived today! Thank you so much. I think this is next one that I need to read in this series. :)
Another good installment in the Sheriff Brady series. If you've been reading this series, you will enjoy it. There's enough backstory for it to be read as a standalone, but I think the enjoyment is enhanced by reading the series in order to see how some of the dynamics develop.
The novel has both personal and professional challenges for Joanna. She is dealing with the loss of her mother and her mother's husband /her friend and colleague George. Her daughter is returning from college for the service. Joanna's brother is coming as well which is also stressing her out. Not to mention she's also pregnant and running for reelection as sheriff.
Into this mix, there are deaths of 2 women at the foot of a local peak called Geronimo. It's unclear if this was an accident, murder/suicide, or a double murder. The women seem very dissimilar - one is a local teacher while the other is microbiologist working on her PhD. Before the story comes to a conclusion there will be several secrets uncovered.
The novel is fast-paced and full of both action and emotion. You can feel the August heat in Arizona. It is a must read for fans of this series. I'm looking forward to the next installment for Joanna.
