Texts from Jane Eyre

I got this ex-library hardcover from Better World Books. It's by Slate contributor Daniel Mallory Ortberg (now Danny M. Lavery), and features a variety of classical and literary characters as they text each other - sometimes following the plots of their respective works and sometimes departing from them dramatically. Whether it's Medea taunting Glauce about her upcoming wedding to Medea's ex Jason, King Lear trying to get Cordelia to abandon her husband and walk the Earth with him instead, Gone With the Wind's Prissy revealing her masterful plan to wreck the lives of Scarlet and co., or Heathcliff and Cathy texting about how they'll prove their love to each other via all the horrible things they actually do in the book, it's quite entertaining. Some of the conversations reveal darker aspects to the stories than are generally thought of, and some present plot-twists that I rather wish had come about in the originals!
