Never Look Back

For thirteen days in 1976, teenage murderers April Cooper and Gabriel LeRoy terrorized Southern California's Inland Empire, killing a dozen victims before perishing themselves in a fire... or did they? More than 40 years later, twentysomething podcast producer Quentin Garrison blames his troubled upbringing on the murders. And after a shocking message from a source, he has reason to believe April Cooper may still be alive. Meanwhile, New York City film columnist Robin Diamond is coping with rising doubts about her husband and terrifying threats from internet trolls. But that's nothing compared to the outrageous phone call she gets from Quentin... and a brutal home invasion that makes her question everything she ever believed in. Is Robin's beloved mother a mass murderer? Is there anyone she can trust?
Told through the eyes of those destroyed by the Inland Empire Killings—including Robin, Quentin, and a fifteen-year-old April Cooper—Never Look Back asks the question:
How well do we really know our parents, our partners—and ourselves?

Thank you to the publisher, William Morrow|HarperCollins, for sharing this ARC with me to read in exchange for an honest review.
Even though it took me longer to read this book than usual (life got in the way of reading), I could not wait to pick up this read more! The story grabbed me from page one and I loved all the twists and turns the plot put out there. I found the main character, April Cooper, somewhat likeable as the story started out. Even with the bad deeds done, I could understand how she might have felt trapped in the situation. What is the situation? April’s boyfriend kills members of her family. Then this 15 year old girl is pressured by her unstable boyfriend, to come with him and he does some unspeakable things.
The story is told in several voices, April, Robin and Quentin. Quentin being a podcast reporter working on the series of killings and how they affected the lives of the victims’ families. Robin is the daughter of whom he believes to be one of the killers.
The story takes off from there and I’m not going to be the reviewer to spill out too many details. Alison Gaylin writes so well that you fall into this story so easily. Honestly, I thought it was a good story that surprises you up to the very end! I am going to look for more books by this author.

Thank you for the two devotional/spiritual books (if there is a BCID# attached to either, I couldn't find it just glancing through it); they look quite interesting and perfect for this time of shelter-in-place, stay-home and stay safe..
Thanks too for this thriller; haven't read this author, but the back cover blurb sounds right up my alley (reading alley that is),
