In this brilliantly conceived retelling of Shakespeare's retelling The Tempest, Dr. Peter Garner flees an unsavory practice in England and settles on a small Caribbean island with his 3 year old daughter, Virginia. Cut off from the main island of Trinidad by glistening green sea, Peter makes use of the local wild flora for medical tests. He even conducts amoral experiments on the dark-skinned orphan Carlos, whose home he steals. Though Peter considers the boy no better then a savage, he nonetheless schools the child alongside his daughter. But after Peter discovers a forbidden liaison between Carlos and Virginia and accuses the boy of a heinous crime, it is up to brusque English inspector to discover the truth and expose a monstrous secret.

Congratulations, you won the family sweeps :) hope you will enjoy this book.
Arrived in todays mail. I am looking forward to reading all these great books and new authors I am receiving.
I found this book hard to follow for the first couple chapters but then I got into it. Sad to think there are still people in the world that think this way. I enjoyed the perspective of each of the main characters, but I must say I didn't think much of the way it ended. All in all a good read.
