A well written, unique saga from Charles Frazier. He successfully crafts the character Will Cooper into an entirely believable person in an entirley believable place, made up of a pastiche of real people, real events, real places and mountain myths.
Well worth reading.

Wow, this book was on my Wishlist for 2 years. Thank you so much marmee463 - might take me another 2 years to read it. LOL!
A very enlightening read (although a novel I felt like it was well researched) about the life and displacement of the Cherokee nation in the early days of western settlement in USA.
The story was told from the perspective of a young white boy who was sent into the wilderness as a bound boy, only 12 years old and in charge of a trading post. He grew up with the Cherokee and fought for their safety and rights.
The story of his life.
