Zoals verwacht vond ik dit een interessant boek. Nooit beseft dat de Romeinse overheersing erg letterlijk genomen moest worden. Dat ze hele landen van de kaart hebben geveegd, inclusief complete culturen, was nieuw voor mij.
Ik had graag wat meer gelezen over onze eigen streken en wat meer over de weerbarstige Britten. Het einde van het boek leek net zo chaotisch als de tijd waarin de Romeinse overheersing ten onder ging. Wel grappig dat Attila de Hun en het Christendom daar zo'n grote rol in speelden.
