The Eternal Champion

I've read and enjoyed books from Moorcock's complex fictional multiverse before, but this book definitely expanded that more than I had anticipated! I've mostly read his Elric and Count Brass novels, so this collection ventures into largely unexplored territory for me.
I still prefer his more sword-and-sorcery-style fantasy, and the most strictly sci-fi tale in the collection was the one I had the hardest time getting into. These stories all feel less character-driven than I had anticipated, tending more toward epic, country- or world-level events instead of personal quests. Still, there are a lot of interesting characters to be found, and Moorcock's talent for painting vivid multi-sensory descriptions of the settings and cultures are some of the best things in this collection.
