I found this slightly-battered softcover in this Little Free Library in Carlisle MA while dropping off some books of my own, and was glad of another release copy.

I'd read the book years ago and enjoyed it for its depiction of the wonderful characters and settings of Savannah, plus the intriguing mystery - based on real-life people and events, though it seems the author did rearrange some things for a more literary tale. The 1997 film featured top-notch performances - including one by the Lady Chablis as herself. (I was saddened to learn of her death in 2016.)
