I got this handsome hardcover at Porter Square Books in Cambridge MA, while in the area for a BookCrossing meetup. It presents information about many of the plants and creatures that inhabit a meadow, via riddle-poems: dew and grasshoppers, rabbits and foxes, goldfinches and hawks... That last one features "An Apology to My Prey," in which the hawk describes its "merciless hook, a golden sickle poised over your soft, helpless heart", adding "I'm so sorry. For you, that is. All this works out quite well for me."
