But the house and the surrounding town hold their secrets close—and the truth, when Arden finds it, is more devastating than she ever could have imagined.

I didn't get off to a very good start with this book. The cover blurb says "It's where twin girls disappeared TEN years ago." Well no actually it wasn't, it was SEVENTEEN years & boy did that niggle at me! It niggled me so much &, as it was in the forefront of my mind, I ended up struggling with the timeline & I nearly gave up on it - a bit pathetic I know.....

However, after this initial hiccup - & I got the timeline straight in my mind - I quite enjoyed this mystery. It seemed to me that there was a vague hint of the supernatural about it at times but these touches were quite fleeting & I wasn't sure if I was misreading the situation - or just hoping things would become more chilling. The story was a bit on the slow side, & while there are a few twists, they are easily spotted, leading to a conclusion which probably won't surprise many readers.

Overall, a decent read but a little lacklustre for my taste.
