The introduction, which explains how the book came to be and where the various essays came from, is interesting. The rest of the book is sometimes interesting, sometimes not, and has a variety of writing styles as it has quite a few different authors. One thing that impressed me: communal feasts had a different significance in the years prior to the 1940s; more community feeling it seems.
Going to a knitting friend, RB, who expressed an interest.
