A very good read. The main character is an interesting woman, living on her own, a bit afraid of emotional strings, but with a warm heart and a lot of courage. I want to read more about her!

Found this book in my mailbox yesterday and started reading it that afternoon. Thanks Tehanu!

Deel 1, Track of the Cat, is inmiddels naar dutch-flybaby, Ede, gegaan.

My first book by Nevada Barr and I think she needs to grow on me a bit more. The story started kind of slow and it did not seem to go anywhere. Halfway down the book things started happening and the story got really interesting. I like Anna's humour, especially putting a suspect on the list because 'she eats icecream with the wrong kind of spoon which her mother in law will not like'. I wouldn't mind reading another book from this author.
Will pm Tehanu and ask her who to send this book to.

Got this one on the Dutch BC meeting in Castricum.
I had another book from Barr from a hunt, and that appeared to be one of a series, of which this is the first book.

I wanted to start with the first in the series, and now I can!

Journal Entry 8 by Erbie from Amsterdam, Noord-Holland Netherlands on Thursday, August 5, 2004
Finished this one this week.

I enjoyed it, though I'm not sure if I'm going for the entire series. I got into the mystery after a while, though as soon as it was resolved, the book was over. No wrap up of any kind. It left several questions unanswered, mainly about what would happen with some of the characters.

My favourite character is one who only appears over the phone, sis Molly. I really enjoyed her input in the story.

I was surprised to find the story even had a lesbian thread in there, albeit a small one. It even left the main character considering whether she had gay tendencies or not. Interesting little twist.

Overall not a bad read at all, though not one of the better ones I've read so far. I've got part 2, A Superior Death, already in house. I'm not starting that right away, but I will give it a chance, to see if the series improves with each volume.

Next in line is.... Woops, there is no line set! It's a 'pick whomever you want to go next' ring... Well, that makes my sista Powerhouse the next reader of this book!

Received the book today out of the hands of my dearest BCbrada Erbie. Thank you Tehanu, for sharing this one with us. 3rd ringbook in line, it's not so bad these days. Can't figure out who to send it to afterwards, we'll see. Probably just back to Tehanu.

Powerhouse was so kind to send it back to me, because she would not have the time to read it. I am not sure who else was interested in the book. Let me know!
