I got this book at a local Goodwill thrift shop. It's a look at the 1950s practice of taking the babies of unwed Irish mothers and sending them to America for adoption, with a look at one mother, Philomena, and the son she began to search for fifty years after losing him. The book inspired a 2013 film.
