This is the third book in the Millennium series (heh and before I read this series, I thought that the Millennium title meant that the books took place in 2000). Lisbeth is in the hospital recovering from the gunshot wound to her head. The police are preparing to charge for the attempted murder of her father, as well as the murders of Dag and Mia. As a murder suspect, she is completely isolated from the world and allowed no visitors but her lawyer, Annika Giannini, Mikael Blomkvist's sister.

Although there is definitely some action in this book (more murders and violence), a lot of it is background about the Section, the secret branch of SIS behind Zalachenko's existence in Sweden for several decades, as well as preparation for Lisbeth's trial, Erika's new job, and Mikael's research for the publication of Dag's exposé in Millennium and the accompanying book. As such, I thought it would be a bit dry but surprisingly the most amusing part of the entire book was Lisbeth's trial. I laughed and laughed during her testimony as well as when Annika questioned Teleborian. I was surprised at how much longer the book went on after the trial, but it tied up the last loose ends. Loved the way that Lisbeth dealt with Niedermann and Nieminen.
