J B Phillips was a priest who produced one of the first translations of the Bible into colloquial modern English (he had completed the New Testament, and started on the Old, bythe time he died). I got this book when working on my dissertation on bible translations, and found it fascinating reading; but now this is finished, it is time to let the book go.
